Lip Balm: Hidden Ingredients

Have you ever applied lip balm, then a few minutes later you reapply it again? Then throughout the day you keep reapplying it, but your lips just never seem to get better? Or maybe...you're just another victim of lip balms that contain drying ingredients so that you just keep buying the product but your lips never get better? What a sick trick, right?
Well, it's true. Seriously. Ingredients you should avoid at all cost: Menthol, camphor, and phenol: These ingredients may make you go ooh and aaah from the numbing affect, but once the affect disappears, you're left with even drier and irritated lips.Silicone oil: This locks out all moisture from your lips, but keeps the color in the lip balm. Which would you rather choose?Fragrance: Alcohol-based fragrances whisk the moisture right out of your lips. Look for better fragrance ingredients such as essential oils.Salicylic acid: Go look at your face wash. What's one of the active ingredients in it? Salicylic acid. W…

Blog Layout...

I know. I know. I've already updated my blog once, but I really dislike the smallness to my blog, so I'm going to fix it tomorrow. So if you see rapid changes tomorrow, it's because my site will be under construction. Just a fair warning.

Yummy Spicy Burrito

Here's an amazing recipe I came up with, and anyone can eat it. So if you're looking for a healthy meal night, without the icky healthy taste to it that everyone can enjoy, here's my wonderful recipe that you should probably double if you're making for more than two-three people (I make this for two, and it lasts a few days, but it's good enough to eat over and over again):
Ingredients: 1 cup brown rice 1 cup lentils Chili Powder and Garlic Powder World Table Roasted Tomato Chipotle Roja Salsa(Found at Walmart by the taco sauce) Mission Wraps Jalapeno Cheddar or Sun Dried Tomato and Basil (Also found at Walmart in the bread section by bagels and such) Shredded Cheddar Cheese 2 or 4 (per wrap) Gardein Seven Grain Crispy Tenders(This can be found at Target by Morning Star Products or even Krogers or a wholefood store) (Can be substituted for chicken if you're not a vegetarian though)
Directions: In one pan, bring two cups water to a boil. Add one cup brown rice, cover, a…

Conformity...

In this day and age, every young teenage girl wants to be popular and pretty. Everyday I see girls like this in high school, gossiping about everyone and being gossiped about. They worry too much about how everyone views them and not enough about how they view themselves. They worry about how their hair looks, their makeup, and their clothes. These girls don't care if their feet hurt at the end of the day because they wore high heels. (Yes, girls at my high school wear high heels. Why? I don't know.) And at the end of the day, nobody gave a damn what they wore, and they don't even realize it. I mean heck, I can't even remember what I wore the other day, let alone yesterday.

And then there's clothes...Girls wear clothes to show off and look oh-so-pretty. Well, what ever happened to looking classy, not like a whore? They wear yoga pants to show off their butt. They wear super low cut shirts. They pile on the makeup. Some even get plastic surgery to fix what everyone m…

How Rusty Got Her Name

This is a short story about how my main character, Rusty, got her name, and yes, this deals with my young adult science fiction novel. And yes, Rusty is a girl. All thoughts are welcome. :)
Rusty Short Story: My Brothers suck. My mother finished washing out the dye in my hair, coating the sink with a golden blonde paste; however, something seemed odd about the color. It had a slight rustic tint, but I couldn't figure out why. As my mother took out her hair drier, she spun the chair around so I couldn't see into the mirror. Warm air danced across my face when she turned it on, and I closed my eyes, allowing the heat to hug my face. As the air disappeared, my mother fetched for the purple brush on the countertop, beginning to comb through my hair, and a wrong feeling washed over me. It was as if knots had developed everywhere, and as my mother tugged on the brush, pain surged through my scalp. I reached up to touch my hair and caught a gasp in my palm. My hair felt like a thin laye…

The City of Bones Movie

Okay, so if you haven't read The City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, I think you should. Why? Because it's filled with wonderful descriptions, has a ton of action, great romance, an intricate plot, and unbelievable characters. It's my favorite series of all times, and it's being turned into a movie! Though the date is not certain yet, the two main characters have been casted.

**There are NO SPOILERS below, just to let you know**
Main character of the whole series is Clary. She's an innocent, talented red head who falls for golden haired beautiful Jace. Jace is personally my favorite character because he's just plain out awesome. He always says wonderful things, and he's graceful and good-looking. But there's a catch. Jace is a broken character with a past that will make you gasp.

Why you should read the book? Because it's well written, has a deep, complicated plot that gets resolved throughout the 4 books, and well because of Jace. And if you don't e…

Random Wednesday

Okay, so I've decided that maybe Wednesday should be random Wednesday instead of Fun Fact Wednesday which gives me a better variety choice instead of just plain out facts. I think it sounds like a good idea, so I'm sticking with it.

So here's a video my science teacher showed us. If you hate heights, this'll give your stomach a wild ride.

Rest of Today's Post

So the rest of my post didn't show up today, and I can't figure out why. So here it is now:

I came up with my own high calorie shake, which is very vanilla tasting. For anyone like me who's looking to gain weight but not in a super sugar, junk food way, here's a recipe you will enjoy. And you can change it in anyway you want.

Here's my version:
Super Calorie Shake Recipe:
1 cup Stonyfield Organic Very Vanilla Yoghurt (Found at Walmart, but you can use whatever you like)
1 cup Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai Tea (Can be found at Walmart by Soymilk section.)
3 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream (I use Madagascan Vanilla found at Target)
Protein powder (I use brown rice protein powder)
Silken Tofu (1-2 slices, depending how much/less you want. Or just leave out altogether.)

Directions:
Obviously you would add altogether and blend.

This usually adds up to near 700 calories. (I usually guesstimate, but it's in the general range.)
It's also high in protein, too, which I forgot to me…

Becoming a Vegetarian...

I've been a vegetarian for about two years now, and the best advice I could give to anyone looking into becoming one is: Educate yourself.

That is the most important piece of advice I could give anyone. I tried to educate myself about nutrition before I became one, but I didn't do a good job at it. So what resulted from it? I lost 15 pounds (I was little to begin with). I went through iron anemia, which isn't fun. It makes you feel exhausted 24/7, and you just don't have the will to do anything. BUT, it's not what it seems. After I educated myself some more, I became better with my diet. I don't suffer any health problems; I've actually seen a change in my health. I have more energy, and I feel better. But it's still hard for me to gain weight, but my weight is in the healthy range, I promise.

Now where am I going with this? Well, I'd like to give you some information you probably didn't know about us vegetarians. Well, first of all, we can't …

Getting Published...

It seems as if getting published is getting harder and harder as the years go on, and more and more people are turning to self-publishing. The bad thing is is that those self-published books aren't living up to their potentials. Authors are just throwing books out right and left because they want to be published and make money, which is bad, very very bad. Us readers want well-developed, well-edited novels, agreed?

But not all self-published books are a bunch of crap. Take Amanda Hocking for example. She wrote book after book, trying to get traditionally published, but everyone turned her down. Now why did she get turned down? Well, agents and publishers are getting pickier and pickier these days. They don't take on books that are amazing. They take on books that are going to sell. See how it all works? Not books that people want to see. Books that are like other books already published. Now isn't that a bunch of crap? But...As soon as Amanda Hocking got big self-publishing…

Organized Schedule

If you haven't already noticed, I'm making an organized schedule which is up at the top which will take effect next week.

Every Monday I will rant about something. Every Tuesday I will either give you a recipe or a helpful site or information about vegetarians since I am one. Every Wednesday I will make you one fact smarter. Every Thursday I will talk about the book world. And last but not least....

Every single Friday I will upload a new SHORT STORY! I'm thinking of continuing the story every Friday or until I feel like posting a new short story with new characters.

So what are your thoughts? Yay or nay?

Oh, and my site is currently under construction.

I'm back.

It seems as if I've been neglecting my livejoural. I've been busy with school lately, and I feel bad for neglecting all of you whom have read my posts. So to make it up to you, I'm going to start posting short stories every once in a while so you can have a look at my writing.

And with my novel. This is a big hectic mess. I'm sort of leaning towards self-publishing now because I've done the pros and cons, and overall, self-publishing seems like a much better choice. My reasons exactly? Well, I would get total control over my own novel, which is something I'd love to have. I would get to decide how the inside text and cover would look like. I may not get foreign editions, but I would be selling my own work.

But it's kind of a scary thought at the same time because I always wanted to get an agent and know whether my work was truly good enough. So I'm going to post short stories and see whether you guys think my writing is up to par and wheth…
