So I'm continuing onward with my Rosacea & Acne posts. I see that these are what bring in the most views.
Now this is going to sound weird. In order to moisturize your skin, you need to use a natural oil.
And of course, you're thinking "But that'll make my skin oily!"
Well, yes, of course it does at first. But think about this for a moment. Your skin produces oils. When you use your harsh cleaners on your face, you strip all the oils off your skin. Which is totally not good for you. So what better way can you balance the oils on your skin? By replacing the oils with a natural oil: coconut oil, to be exact.
When I first started learning about natural remedies, I became intrigued by what I found. For I was determined to heal my scarring rosacea. My face was beat red, and I was embarrassed by it.
So I dropped all commercial products, picked up coconut oil and clay, and I was deteremined to win.
First of all, my skin gets super dry in the winter. So dry that when I put on makeup, it itches, badly. This is one of the main reasons I stopped using makeup (although not entirely). It felt useless to impress people when I only had one person to impress. My boyfriend. And even he preferred me to go without makeup. I don't agree with girls piling on makeup to hide themselves. You want guys to like you for who you are, not who make yourself out to be.
But that's beside the point. As I learned more about health, I found coconut oil. It's anti-bacterial. It's nourishing. It's all natural. But I only used it once a day.
Here's my nightly routine that I used religiously for years:
1) Wash skin off with plain old water.
2) Use a washcloth bathed in hot water to open pours.
3) Mix clay with ACV and allow it to sit on skin for at least 10 min.
4) Rinse skin off with just water.
5) Apply coconut oil.
And overtime, I went from pimply rosacea skin to neutral, less cystic acne.
I didn't use the regime every single day, but I never went months, let alone weeks without it.
After years of my skin being better, I stopped using everything altogether and occasionally wash my skin with water, especially after I use makeup.
Now you're probably thinking, "Are you kidding me?"
Nope, I am not kidding you. I don't use anything on my face, and guess what? It has never reverted back to its old red state. Sometimes I get some bad acne, but that's because my diet sucks sometimes.
Last summer, I used to drink green smoothies all the time. My diet was perfect, and my skin was the clearest I've ever seen it. I think I had zero cystic pimples that whole summer. But after the stress of school and work, I fell back on my awesome diet and developed poor eating habits, resulting in bad skin. Not horrible, just okay.
So what do you need for icredible skin? Coconut oil and bentonite clay.
Bentonite clay to pull out toxins, and coconut oil to replenish the sebum glands.
Oh, and a all-natural diet would benefit greatly.
I also have one last tip for you. Coconut oil makes a great make-up remover. No, really. Try it!
